Daily Create Week 4: Video
This week, for the multimedia Daily Creates, we explored using video. This was definitely an interesting one for me as I have very little experience with videos and video editing. I found that a lot of the prompts were informational, or about discovery, whether that was a blast from the past and discovering what the Top Hit was on the day you were born, or finding an informational video to share. In this day and age, media and videos especially are used so commonly for entertainment, we forget how much we can take away or learn from the media and the digital world.
Make the Dullest Video Ever:
For this prompt, we were told to create the dullest video ever. I thought it would be funny (and incredibly dull) to film ice melting. The process only took about 45 minutes to melt 5 small cubes of ice. I was originally going to upload the full 47-minute video; however, it was a bit too long to properly upload, so please enjoy this short clip of ice melting!
Your Birth: Number 1 Hit in the UK:
For this prompt, we had to find the number 1 song in the UK on our birthday; mine was I Don’t Feel Like Dancing by Scissor Sisters. I found this ironic because I will dance (quite terribly) in almost any setting, embarrassing both myself and others.

Explain How Something Works in a Video:
For this prompt, we had to explain how something works using video. Being a swim instructor, I thought it would be interesting to find a step-by-step video of teaching the most standard swim stroke, freestyle (or front crawl). I thought this was a really cool concept for multiple reasons, but especially since swimming is something that takes a lot of visual cues to learn, rather than a verbal explanation.
